Training Overview

The aim of the session is to develop you knowledge in infection control, and the importance of hygiene in the work environment.

Learning Outcomes

  • At the end of this course students will be able to Recognise the duties of the employer and employees under the health and safety at work act 1974
  • Recognise the need for risk assessments
  • State the procedure for accident reporting
  • Identify the use of the accident book and the legal requirements surrounding the accident book
  • State when to fill in the RIDDOR section of the accident book
  • Recognise the need for good hygiene practices
  • Recognise the need for hand-washing
  • Demonstrate good hand-washing procedures
  • List the procedures for dealing with the use and disposal of sharps
  • State the correct way to deal with clinical and general waste
  • Recognise the different infectious diseases how they are contracted and treated
  • Identify ways of reducing the spread of such diseases

Who is it for?

This course is for Residential and Domiciliary care workers including Carers, Supervisors, Trainers and Managers who are working with older people, vulnerable adults and service users living in their own home.
